The Derby winner took Epsom by three lengths on soft ground, and with Town Moor riding good to soft he gets back the conditions that brought out his very best. Defeats in the Irish Derby and Great Voltigeur have cooled the market, but neither was a disgrace against this calibre of opposition.
Over on the Roodee, Cranachan looks the one to be with in the competitive staying handicap at 2.05. Ralph Beckett's three-year-old is a thorough stayer who won over course and distance three weeks ago on good to soft by six lengths, and while the handicapper has raised him 9lb, he receives significant weight from his older rivals. He deservedly tops the betting.
Irish raider Holy See is respected on the back of a career-best at Galway, while Spirit Mixer bids to win this for a third time and Stressfree has been quietly building back towards something.
The famously fierce Doncaster sprints offer further claims, most notably from Getreadytorumble in the Betfred Portland Handicap (2.20). Jack Channon's grey was beaten into second off a mark of 100 at Ascot last time, losing valuable ground before finishing strongly once the winner had flown. His family like some ease underfoot, and Tom Marquand knows him well.
At Leopardstown, Darkness Falls is the Aidan O'Brien standard-bearer in the juvenile Group contest and heads the market on the back of stable confidence as much as anything. Where a race/meeting is abandoned or otherwise void for normal settlement, that race will no longer count towards 6 Horses Challenge. The prize structure for that round will be amended according to the number of remaining races. If 1 race is abandoned, all prizes will be reduced by 50%. If 2 races are abandoned, the entire round of 6 Horses Challenge will be settled as void.
Prizes for each round of 6 Horses Challenge game will be credited once the result of the final relevant race is known.
