Tonight’s 6 Horses Challenge is solely based at Southwell and first up is the Tote.co.uk It's The Final Countdown Racing League R36 Handicap. A race that has an entry list of 12 at the time of writing and of the dozen entries involved, they will each have to deal with going that is Standard. Of those who are looking to cross the finish line first, it is Cock And Bull who we are backing to pen a winning story in just a few hours. The Michael Bell-trained entry has been in impressive form this season and in each of the eight races it has appeared in, it has never finished outside the top three. The high point of this recent run of form must be the wins at Sandown in both June and July. Since those victories have been recorded, they have been followed up by a second and third place finish at the same venue. A change of venue this evening, but not something that suggests a change in performance and although you can expect Dancing In Paris and Who’s Glen to be in the mix at the finishing line, we also expect jockey Benoit De La Sayette to lead Cock And Bull to victory.
Next up is the Tote.co.uk It's A 3 Horse Race Racing League R37 Handicap and an entry list of 14 have been confirmed for the second race of the day. Of the 14 that aiming to win at Southwell, it is Noodle Mission that has been tasked with undertaking our mission for victory. The Edward Symthe-Osbourne-trained entry arrives here off the back of a second place finish at Wolverhampton at the start of the month. However, that shortcoming also comes off the back of back-to-back wins at Newmarket and Chelmsford earlier in the summer. Three different riders for three different races and with Saffie Osborne being in the saddle while being second best at Wolverhampton four weeks ago, she is now given the opportunity to go one better this evening. If she is to go one better and continue the recent run of form that Noodle Mission has displayed - three wins in its last five outings, it will need to make sure that the pair of Kodi Lion and Smoky Mountain do not get in her way. Deal with those two and the deal for victory should be a rather profitable one.
Now we move on to the Tote.co.uk Live On The Racing App Racing League R38 Handicap. This race also has a confirmed enrty list of 12 before starters orders and of those aiming to win the third race of the six on the list, it is Habooba who we hope is top after running a distance of six furlongs. The T Kent-trained entry has won both of its last two outings, with victory at both Kempton Park and Wolverhampton lodged in the history books since July. Victory at the start of this month was with jockey Luke Morris in the saddle and it is Morris who is tasked with repeating his efforts in the West Midlands. Habooba has been a rather busy prospect across the season and with eight races under its belt, it has also managed to pick up two seconds (Lingfield and Wolverhampton) and a third place finish also at Wolverhampton since the start of the year. With August soon to be coming to a close, another win would certainly be welcomed and although Jungle Land and Sondad will fancy their chances of picking up a win, we do not fancy them enough to make them a prediction for this race.
Next we go to the Tote.co.uk Joins The Racing App Racing League R40 Handicap and a race that has an entry list of 14. The maximum possible entry list has been confirmed and if you are looking for confirmation when it comes to our predicted winner, then you need look no further than Great Acclaim. The Eve Johnson Houghton-trained entry arrives in Southwell in something of a winning groove and this is due to a pair of August wins at both Chepstow and Windsor. Success at the former within a field of 10, the latter a field of nine and the common denominator in both those wins was jockey Charles Bishop. He was in the saddle for both displays of superiority and he will also be in the saddle this evening. Bishop has ridden Great Acclaim five times already this season and he has done so to acclaim of the same level. Another win recorded at Newbury in June, which followed a third at Windsor the month before. In between those two rides, Georgia Dobie also rode Great Acclaim to victory at Windsor. All in all, this form sees too good to overlook and therefore, we are going to overlook Helm Rock’s and Oliver Show’s own attempts at entering the winners’ enclosure.
Now we move to the Tote.co.uk Who'll Take The Crown Racing League R41 Handicap and an entry list of 12 are confirmed for our fifth race of the evening. Of the 12 listed, it is Fantasy Believer that we are backing to make our dreams a reality. The Edward Walker-trained entry may have only had two rides this season but both of them have been victorious and both of them have come under the stewardship of Saffie Osborne. Osborne was best in class at Ascot last month and also Chepstow three weeks ago and with this new partnership looking perfect to date, the same partnership is installed for tonight. While the alchemy of Fantasy Believer and Saffie Osborne has certainly signified an uptick in form when it comes to results and with Tom Marquand only managing fourth and ninth at Newbury and Leicester respectively at the end of last season, not many would have believed this horse to come so good this time around. With two wins from two under its current jockey, Walahaan and Great Bedwyn will look to play the role of spoiler, but the spoils in our opinion will go to Fantasy Believer.
The final race of this evening’s 6 Horses Challenge is the Tote.co.uk Big Finale Racing League R42 Handicap. A race that 13 entries at the time of writing and although that number is considered unlucky for some, we are hoping that our luck is in with Star Of Lady M. The David O’Meara-trained entry arrives at Southwell in fine fettle and this is measured by four top-three finishes in succession. The first two saw a third place at Chelmsford and then a second at Haydock Park respectively. Two near misses but a glimpse of what could still be to come and there was plenty more to come after a win at Newmarket in the middle of July. Jim Crowley in the saddle that time around, Daniel Tudhope up next the following month and Tudhope would continue the winning streak at York just over a week ago. Tonight sees another jockey change and this time it is Cieren Fallon in the saddle - he himself has not won of his last seven outings, but Star Of Lady M could be the perfect horse to end that streak. If this is to be the case, then you can expect Jer Batt and Nazron to be pipped to the post.
