If you’re a football fan, then you have probably heard the story of TikTok star Frank Ilett, who has gone viral for promising not to cut his hair until Manchester United wins five games in a row.

Frank Ilett, better known as The United Strand, has now gone 395 days without cutting his hair, and he will have to wait even longer as Ruben Amorim’s men failed to win against Nottingham Forest, which could have been their fourth win on the bounce.

Recently, we spoke to United legend Wes Brown, who gave his thoughts on the phenomenon, as well as what went down against Forest.

He might have to get it braided

Wes Brown finds it funny; however, he highly doubts that Frank Ilett will have his hair cut anytime soon, as he points out how hard it is to win five matches in a row.

“I like the banter. It’s funny because the other day my daughter showed me. When you’re thinking of five games on the bounce to win, it sounds fairly straightforward. That can be done.”

“That’s what I love about the game. Regardless of the results, some fun can come from it. But is he going to get it cut? How long does this go on for? How many teams have done five in a row in the league? Even from last season. It’s probably harder than you think. He might have to get it braided.”

The last time Manchester United won five matches in a row was between January and February 2024. They have failed to do so in the 88 games since then. During that period, a Premier League team has managed runs of at least five consecutive wins 26 times.

With United favoured at 13/5 to pick up three points on Saturday, you can use our bet calculator to see what you could potentially earn if they get back in the win column.

Lack of concentration against Nottingham Forest

The match against Nottingham Forest was not just important to Frank Ilett, but of course also to Manchester United, and the former England international also shared his thoughts on what went wrong in that match in his opinion.

“Against Forest they were punished for a small lapse in concentration, but they will learn from that.”

“They have to keep focus, because you will get punished in the Premier League if you don’t.”

Manchester United are playing Tottenham next at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Red Devils will be eager to avenge their Europa League final defeat from earlier this year.
