Premier League 2024-25: All the Records That Were Broken
After the conclusion of the 2024-25 Premier League, AceOdds collected all the records that were broken in the 2024-2025 season.
To highlight a few of the records that were broken, Liverpool extended their record for the longest span between a club’s first and most recent English top-flight championship (124 years), Arsenal broke the record of Everton for the most overall red cards (now 110), a new record was set for the most yellow cards given in one match (Bournemouth vs Chelsea, 14 yellow cards) and for the first time in Premier League history, all three promoted teams were relegated with more than four games left (Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Southampton).
When looking at individual players, Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) broke the record of Harry Kane and became the player with the most overall penalties scored (now 34), and Salah also broke the record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season (47), breaking the record of Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland. Additionally, James Milner (Brighton & Hove Albion) broke out of his tie with Ryan Giggs and became the first player to play in 23 Premier League seasons.

Records broken by INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS:
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) entered the top 5 of the players with the most career goals scored in Premier League - in the 2024-2025 season, Salah scored 29 goals, bringing his total to 186
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) broke the record of Harry Kane and became the player with the most penalties scored after scoring 9 penalties in the 2024-2025 season, bringing his total to 34 (Kane previously held the record with 33 penalties scored)
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) broke the record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season, reaching 47 (29 goals, 18 assists) in 2024-2025 -the previous record of 44 goal involvements was jointly held by Thierry Henry (Arsenal, 2002-03) and Erling Haaland (Manchester City, 2022-23)
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) tied the record of Harry Kane & Sergio Agüero for the most Player of the month awards (7) - Salah received two more Player of the month awards in the 2024-2025 season, in November 2024 and February 2025, bringing his total to 7
James Milner (Brighton & Hove Albion) broke out of his tie with Ryan Giggs and became the first player to play in 23 Premier League seasons - Milner first appeared in the 2002-2003 season playing for Leeds United
James Milner (Brighton & Hove Albion) increased his record as the player with the second most career appearances in Premier League matches, adding 4 more appearances in the 2024-2025 season, bringing his total to 638 (Gareth Barry is currently at #1 with 653 appearances)
Craig Dawson (Wolverhampton Wanderers) tied the record for the most own goals scored in one match (2), which was jointly held by Jammie Carragher, Wout Faes, Michael Proctor and Jonathan Walters - Dawson scored 2 own goals in a game against Everton on the 4th of December 2024
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) increased his record as the player with the second most career assists in Premier League matches, adding 7 more assists in the 2024-2025 season, bringing his total to 119 (Ryan Giggs is currently at #1 with 162 assists)
Records broken by TEAMS:
In a match on the 14th of September 2024 (Bournemouth vs Chelsea), a new record was set for the most yellow cards given in one match - in total, 14 yellow cards were given (6 for Bournemouth and 8 for Chelsea) - it surpassed the previous record of 13 yellow cards issued in Tottenham vs Sheffield United on the 16th of September 2023
In a match on the 30th of November 2024 (West Ham vs Arsenal), a record was tied for the most goals scored in the first half - 7 goals were scored, which had happened on 3 occasions in the past
After Liverpool’s 2025 Premier League title, they extended their record for the longest span between a club’s first and most recent English top-flight championship - the span is 124 years from their first in 1901 to their 20th in 2025 (prior to the 2025 victory, they held the record with 119 years victory span between 1901 and 2020)
Manchester United increased their record for the most Premier League games won (+11, now 755)
Everton increased their record for the most Premier League games lost (+12, now 460)
Everton increased their record for the most Premier League draws (+15, now 356)
Everton increased their record for the most Premier League goals conceded (+42, now 1633)
Manchester United increased their record for the most Premier League goals scored (+44, now 2344). Meanwhile, Liverpool climbed up to second place, scoring 86 goals in the 2025 season, bringing their total to 2268
Arsenal broke the record of Everton for the most overall red cards - Arsenal received 6 red cards in the 2024-2025 season, bringing their total to 110, thus passing Everton, which started the season with 107 red cards (now 109)
Chelsea increased their record for the most yellow cards (+99, now 2081)
For the first time in Premier League history, all three promoted teams were relegated with more than four games left (Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Southampton)
Leicester City set a new English top-flight record by failing to score in nine consecutive home matches, breaking the previous record of eight held by Manchester City in the 2006-07 Premier League season
