Sweden legend compares Gyokeres and Isak

Two of the biggest signings this season involved a Swedish player as both Viktor Gyokeres and Aleksander Isak moved to a top club in the Premier League, and we talked to former Sweden international Anders Limpar, who shared his thoughts on the strikers.

Anders Limpar knows both of them very well, and he has made it very clear that he believes both of them are going to do very well at their new clubs.

Gyokeres has to have an instant impact

There is no such thing as patience in modern football, and the former Swedish midfielder says that Gyokeres has to be aware of that and deliver from day one.

“When it comes to Viktor Gyokeres, he is such a big, big signing. He has absolutely no time to adapt, he has to be an instant success.”

“It is really hard to come to a new league and a new country, even if he has played in the Championship before. This is the Premier League, there are better players, more fans and more knowledge about the game.”

“I think we should give him a couple of months to settle in, as he is learning to live in a new environment. You always need to have patience, but when it comes to players of that calibre and arriving for that price, you have no time to settle in.”

“That`s just a part of the game, no matter if you can handle it or not. So far, I think he has had three good games and three not so good ones. That`s not bad, and so many other players have been worse than Gyokeres. It`s just because he is a big signing, then he has no minutes.”

The honeymoon is over

The former Arsenal player points out the fact that none of them had a proper preseason, which might result in some slow first months. However, he is certain they will both get better and better.

“Isak and Gyokeres are in a similar situation. Both of them are massive signings, and both had problems in terms of not wanting to play for Newcastle or Sporting. They wanted to get out.”

“None of them have had a proper pre-season. Isak didn`t play for a long time. I think Gyokeres have looked really sharp so far. He is probably into it now, and he is only getting better and better.”

“I think we will see the real Isak in a couple of weeks. It is really hard to train on your own, it is impossible actually. You need a proper season, but now the honeymoon is over and they are going to absolutely hammer the Premier League both of them.”

One of the biggest signings in the world

The former Sweden international makes it clear that he expected both of them to score a minimum of 10 goals, and last but not least, he calls Isak one of the biggest signings in the world.

“It’s been up and down for Isak so far. He’s a striker like Victor who needs service. If you’ve got the likes of Salah and the other Liverpool attackers around you it means you’re going to score goals. Isak will score goals. Give him time to settle in.”

“Liverpool and Newcastle kind of offer the same environment. Crazy fans and good fans. When you compare that to Victor who is coming from a warm climate in Lisbon to London. It’s harder to settle but give both Gyokeres and Isak time to settle and they will both score goals.”

“Both are too good to not score goals. I would be so surprised if they scored under ten goals. Victor takes penalties and Isak is a penalty taker. He’s one of the biggest signings in the world.”
