Despite winning against Denmark and Holger Rune in the Davis Cup, two of the best Spanish tennis players in the world had only good words to say about the highest-ranked Danish player when speaking to AceOdds.
Spain won a dramatic tie against Denmark in the Davis Cup over the weekend, and after the games concluded, we got the opportunity to ask Pablo Carreno Busta and Pedro Martinez some questions.
Holger Rune missed a match point for Denmark, which was a disappointment for the highest-ranked player at the event. However, after the match, he two Spanish players were full of praise and very optimistic about Rune’s future.
Pedro Martinez was obviously very happy after beating Danish star Holger Rune, but he had nothing but good words for his opponent.
“Obviously, it was very emotional for him to be in front of the Spanish crowd, because almost everyone was supporting us.”
“I think he is a really good player, and the good thing about him is that he can play in many different ways.”
“He can play aggressively, but he can also play more defensively. The thing that is really important when playing against Holger is the ability to adapt.”
If you back Rune to do well for the rest of the season, you can use our bet calculator to see how much he could stand to earn you.
Pablo Carreno Busta lost his match against Rune, but the Spanish star has a career high of number 10 in the world, so the Spaniard definitely knows what it takes to be a part of the elite in tennis.
With that being said, he doesn't think he is the right person to give any sort of advice to Rune.“I don´t really know if I am the right guy to give Holger Rune any advice. He is a top player, a really good player. He has a really good future, and he is still very young. “
“I am sure he will fight for all the big titles in the future. He already won a Masters 1000, which is an absolutely incredible achievement.”
“We will see what`s happening in the future for Holger, but he can fight for all the titles, I am sure about that.”
Rune has a career high as world no. 4, and he won the Paris Masters at just 19 years old.
His next tournament will be the ATP 500 in Tokyo.
