Harry Potter 2027 Series: Casting Odds For Voldemort

Ahead of Halloween, AceOdds has published odds on the casting of Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter HBO series, which is expected to premiere in 2027.

While the production of the series began in July 2025 and many names of the upcoming cast have been revealed, the rumours are still swirling about who might portray Voldemort, the notorious villain in the Harry Potter universe.

There has not been any confirmation regarding the criteria for playing Voldemort, however, in a surprising turn of events, there have been speculations that the producers are auditioning both men and women for the coveted role, which widens the pool of potential candidates to fill Ralph Fiennes’ shoes.

Alexander Skarsgård favourite to play Voldemort

True Blood & Big Little Lies star Alexander Skarsgård currently has the highest odds of playing Voldemort (odds: 4/5) followed by Tom Hiddleston (odds: 3/1) and Tilda Swinton (odds: 4/1). Hiddleston is most known for his work on the Thor series and his acclaimed performance in The Night Manager, while Swinton is an Oscar winner in the Best Supporting Actress category for Michael Clayton.

In fourth and fifth place to play Voldemort are Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen (odds: 10/1) and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch (odds: 12/1), respectively.
