Last Updated: 2 April 2024, Author: AceOdds.com

Instantly deposit as little as £5 once your identity is verified. Betfred has specified no maximum deposit limit.

If you've not yet created a Betfred account, check out the Betfred promo code list. Promotional offers make your deposit go further, but you should always know the terms. Some promotions offer bet credits which aren't withdrawable as cash, whilst others require a minimum number of plays before you can access your winnings.

Since how you deposit funds into your account impacts how you can withdraw them, read our article on how to withdraw funds from your Betfred account before selecting a deposit method.

When creating a new account with Betfred, you may need to provide verification details before placing any bets. We'd advise going through this verification process during account set-up because you will need to verify your account before withdrawing any winnings. Follow our guide for easy and stress-free account creation.

Betfred is up there with Paddy Power and Bet365 in terms of offering a variety of deposit methods. Although they don't include all the e-wallets or have their own Cash Card, Betfred provides more flexibility than Virgin Bet and Sky Bet.

Since Betfred has a presence on the high street, you can make cash deposits into your Betfred account in person. Even if you then go online to place your bets.

As mentioned above, we've suggested you also read our article on how to withdraw funds from your Betfred account. The regulation-enforced closed-loop policy requires at least some of your winnings to be paid out via the deposit method.

You can get information and support here for guidance or tackling any Betfred deposit issues. It also helps to make yourself aware of Betfred's terms and conditions.

Visa Debit Card, MasterCard, Maestro and Visa Electron Debit Card

A minimum deposit limit of £5 can instantly be in your Betfred account, with no maximum deposit limit.

By far the most commonly accepted deposit method, with Betfred, you can use a Visa Debit Card, MasterCard, Maestro and Visa Electron to deposit funds into your account. Though Betfred doesn't impose a maximum deposit limit, your bank may, so it's worth knowing its restrictions.

If you've stored more than one Debit Card in your Betfred account, double-check which one you're using before you deposit because you'll have to withdraw any winnings to the same card.

Neteller

Deposit a minimum of £5 from your e-wallet, and it will arrive in your Betfred account instantly.

Neteller isn't an e-wallet that's accepted across all online betting platforms. Unlike PayPal, it isn't just an e-wallet. A Neteller account also comes with the Net+ card, which allows you to withdraw cash at ATMs.

We'll outline their benefits if you're not overly familiar with e-wallets. If you use an e-wallet, you don't have to input any card details with Betfred. Your information is stored with Neteller, and all you need to do is input your Neteller email address and password when you make your deposit and then confirm the transaction from your Neteller account.

Visa Checkout

A minimum deposit limit of £5 can instantly be in your Betfred account, with no maximum deposit limit.

Betfred accepts Visa Checkout for deposits. Visa Checkout operates like a virtual wallet. You can store your card details with Visa, and use these to make payments without directly entering them with Betfred.

PayPal

With a £5 minimum deposit, funds will be immediately transferred to your Betfred account.

PayPal is the most well-known e-wallet and the most widely accepted. If you prefer to have just one e-wallet, then, for now, PayPal is probably the best to have. That's not to say it won't change in the future because its competitors, like Neteller, charge lower transaction fees.

PayPal also negates the need to add card details to Betfred since your details are stored with PayPal. Input your email and password and verify the transaction from your PayPal account.

Bank Transfer

Minimum deposit limit of £85 and a 1 - 2 banking day transfer time.

Although not listed in the Deposit section, Betfred states that Bank Transfers are accepted in their help section. Bank transfers are ideal for those that prefer not to share their Debit Card details on gambling sites. With the Bank Transfer option, you take the Betfred account details and set up the transaction from your banking platform, so no details are ever shared.

Skrill

Instantly deposit a minimum of £5 via your Skrill e-wallet.

Like Neteller, Skrill is another e-wallet that's not as commonly accepted as PayPal but has some perks that you may prefer. From the perspective of depositing funds into your Betfred account, there isn't much difference between Skrill, Neteller or PayPal.

Which e-wallet you choose is more likely to be determined by how you use it outside of online betting, in which you'll be depositing in GBP. However, Skrill allows you to withdraw and deposit in 45 different currencies, 24 more than you can with PayPal.

Skrill 1-Tap

Make instant Skrill deposits without reentering your details.

Once you have made a deposit using Skrill you can choose to store your details so that future deposit can be made using Skrill 1-Tap. The convenience of this method is that you don't need to enter you log in details each time to top up your account.

Paysafecard

Funds reach your account instantly.

With the Paysafecard, you purchase vouchers of a particular value to build the total amount spendable from that card. That balance can then be spent online and on many online betting sites.

Betfred doesn't allow you to withdraw funds to your Paysafecard, so you will be prompted to use a bank transfer when withdrawing.

Cash

Add cash to your Betfred account in-store with no minimum limit. Your account balance is instantly credited.

Whereas some gambling sites are only online, Betfred can still be found on your high street. If you're out and about or prefer to pay with cash, you can do so by visiting your local shop.

Cashiers can add money to your online account, so even though you've paid in person, you can still go away and play online, taking advantage of the promotional offers available.

How to Deposit Funds

Other than those of you who prefer to do things in person, depositing funds into your Betfred account is done at the click of a button.

Having read this article, you'll have decided how you wish to pay and will have opened any new e-wallets, where necessary. Click on your chosen method and follow the instructions to deposit funds into your Betfred account.

Always Bet Responsibly

Betfred offers lots of information on gambling safely and includes tips for protecting minors on their own devices. They work with Be Gamble Aware on the Take Time To Think campaign and even have a message from Betfred's boss encouraging you to bet responsibly.

Setting Limits

Once you click on the Deposit screen, a Safer Gambling message will appear along with links to setting limits and sources of support if you need it.

The link to this Safer Gambling section is always across the top menu bar to easily access it.

In terms of practical steps to take, like other online gambling sites, the first suggestion is that you set deposit limits. From the link provided in the safer gambling section, you can choose an amount to be your maximum deposit amount and specify whether it's a daily, weekly, or monthly limit.

Any limit you set will be activated instantly. However, should you choose to increase your deposit limit or remove it altogether, it'll be a 24 hour period before this change becomes effective to allow you the chance to change your mind.

The next step you can take is the Reality Check. This is particularly beneficial for those who stay on Betfred to play their games instead of just placing a bet and leaving. By setting up a reality check from thirty minutes to two hours, you'll get a notification that will make you think about whether it's time to log off.

If you think it's time to take a break from Betfred but need help resisting temptation, you can actively set a Time Out. You can set it for 24 hours or up to six weeks. Once activated, it cannot be undone until the time is up.

Unaccepted Payment Methods

Whilst Betfred does offer a variety of deposit methods. There are one or two that are missing.

  • E-wallets - Although PayPal, Skrill and Neteller are accepted, Much Better and Rapid transfer are missing from the list. With Paddy Power, especially, Much Better and Rapid Transfer have much higher deposit limits than those accepted with Betfred.
  • Dedicated Card - Bet365 and Paddy Power have their own cash cards powered by Visa and MasterCard. Once activated, they allow you to withdraw your online account and can be used for ATM withdrawals and online purchases.
  • Google Pay - A great way to pay for those on the go, Google Pay isn't accepted by Betfred. Instead, you'll have to use an e-wallet or Debit Card.
  • Apple Pay - A favourite of those with Apple products, Apple Pay, is accepted by some online gambling sites, even when Google Pay isn't. However, neither of these platforms is accepted by Betfred.
  • Credit Cards - In line with all other online gambling platforms and official regulations, Betfred does not accept Credit Cards as a payment method for depositing funds into your account.
